The Annual Hunslet All Stars fixture cannot be agreed for 2014 leaving Hawks Director of Rugby Darren Williams extremely frustrated due to a number of issues.
Williams explained To say I am frustrated is the understatement of the year in all honesty as it was my idea using my close links with both clubs to get this game off the ground, firstly we had the delay over our Championship 1 fixtures as well as the structure of the league, then the stadium was unavailable when we wanted to play the fixture on a couple of weekends due to pre booked galas, then we eventually agreed a date in early February only for the community teams to pull out due to their involvement in the Challenge Cup, then the added complication of the Old Boys involvement in the Yorkshire Cup Final as well as the National Cup competition. We then offered to play the game on a Friday in mid January but the new Warriors coach Martin Rowse is currently out of the country and the senior players at the Hunslet Green club felt that their preparation time was not enough to do themselves justice as they are currently in close season.
Williams added hopefully the Annual Hunslet game will return next year but there are many hurdles to jump over with both clubs playing in different competitions at different times of the calendar.
