The 2025 final was contested at the usual venue, South Leeds Stadium, on Monday March 3rd. Bruntcliffe were bidding to retain the trophy. Morley last lifted this cup back in 2002.
The first quarter was evenly matched with good defence shown by both teams. Brigshaw broke the deadlock with a good cross field move which saw them cross by the corner flag. Morley soon hit back with a try of the own, also wide out. Before half time Brigshaw ran in a further two tries and added a conversion to lead 14 - 4 at the break.
The second half started in similiar fashion to the first with plenty of good defence from both sides. Morley were first to break the deadlock, scoring an unconverted try to close the gap. As full time approached they crossed the line again and converted to tie the scores at 14 - 14. Then with everyone expecting extra time they scored in the corner to complete a remarkable come back. There was no goal and the referee blew for time.
After the match the Goldthorpe cup was presented to the winning captain by Stephen McGrail, great grandson of Albert Goldthorpe
